In solvent based paint mixing systems all materials (primers, catalysts, paints, reducers) are manufactured by the same company and are designed to work with each other. If materials from different manufacturers are mixed, problems can occur. The chemical contents of the different systems may work against each other. All the materials in a system are stored in a mixing machine. The mixing machine is designed to stir all the materials at the same time.
The waterborne paint system does not require agitation
Repair facilities utilizing waterborne technology no longer require the use of a mechanical mixing machine. With the waterborne systems, anti-settling toner technology is incorporated into the waterborne basecoat which eliminates the need for these types of mixing systems.
The traditional mixing system requires periodic agitation
